Traditional Islamic paper from North India made from sunn hemp fibre. Handmade on a chapri, a grass stem screen. Sheets are dried on a plaster wall and surface sized with wheat starch. The colour is applied by brush. Keshula is a seasonal flower from Rajasthan, a traditional yellow dye. After colouring the paper is burnished by rubbing on a curved block of wood with a smooth stone. Vegan.
This paper is made for calligraphy and fine brush and pen work. In India it is used by the Jain community for hand written geneologies written in gold.
You can buy just one sheet of any one paper but overall you must buy a minimum of 10 sheets selected from any of the papers in this category.
